About Tech Thursday

Tech Thursday is one of Canada's fastest-growing tech community platforms, hosting weekly events that bring together the country's most ambitious founders, operators, innovators, and ecosystem leaders. Since 2022, we've welcomed 30,000+ attendees, built an audience of 15,000+ newsletter subscribers, and expanded to multiple cities across Canada.

Our mission: create the space for high-quality thought leadership and collisions that accelerate innovation, grow talent density, and strengthen Canada's tech ecosystems.

We're expanding rapidly across the Prairies and beyond, building a national connective tissue for tech communities. To support this next stage of growth, we're hiring a Head of Content to own our editorial vision, build our media engine, and turn Tech Thursday into the most-read, most-watched voice in Canadian tech.

Why This Role Matters

This isn't a content marketing job. This is the chance to build a media brand from the inside of Canada's tech ecosystem.

Reporting to the Founder & CEO, you'll own the voice of Tech Thursday across every surface: newsletter, video, social, and live programming. You'll decide what we say, how we say it, and who we put in front of our audience. As we scale nationally, your work is what people will remember us by.

If you've ever wanted to build a media property with a real audience, real access, and real upside, this is your platform. This role comes with equity, because we want the person building our voice to own a piece of what they build.

This role includes some evening availability. We're seeking someone energized by fast growth, high ownership, and a mission that's bigger than any one city. What we promise in return: this role won't stay static. You'll grow as we grow, shaping a national media brand and getting front-row exposure to some of the most influential people and organizations in Canadian tech.

What You'll Do

Editorial Vision & Brand Voice:
Own the editorial direction and voice of Tech Thursday across newsletter, video, social, and event content.
Set the bar for quality and consistency, and protect the brand as we scale across cities.

Newsletter, Video & Multimedia Production:
Grow our 15,000+ subscriber newsletter in reach, engagement, and revenue.
Build a repeatable production engine for video, recaps, and original content that travels across platforms.

Event Programming & Thought Leadership:
Work with the Founder to shape panel themes, speaker lineups, podcasts and programming that lands. Develop the thought leadership that positions Tech Thursday as the connective tissue of Canada's tech ecosystem.

Content Operations & Team Building:
Build and lead our content team. Right now, the team is made up of freelance writers, videographers, and editors. Create the calendars, workflows, and standards that let a national team ship great work consistently.

Own all Tech Thursday Channels:
Tech Thursday has several channels: Social Media, Podcasts, Newsletters, Videos. Our newsletters are the Winnipeg Tech, Calgary Tech, Ottawa Tech, and Edmonton Tech Newsletters - we have 15,000+ subscribers across them. Our podcasts are ‘Tech Thursday Live!’ and ‘Your Business is on the Line’. You’ll own the content strategy across all of our channels.

Paid Ads Strategy & Execution:
Create and execute a paid ad strategy that reasonably boosts our growth while keeping engagement high.

Sponsor & Partner Content Delivery:
Build sponsor and partner content that delivers real value without compromising editorial trust.

Manage branded content across multiple events, cities, and partners.
