Operations and Marketing Coordinator
About Tech Thursday
Tech Thursday is one of Canada's fastest-growing tech community platforms, hosting weekly events that bring together the country's most ambitious founders, operators, innovators, and ecosystem leaders. Since 2022, we've welcomed 30,000+ attendees, built an audience of 15,000+ newsletter subscribers, and expanded to multiple cities across Canada.
Our mission: create the space for high-quality thought leadership and collisions that accelerate innovation, grow talent density, and strengthen Canada's tech ecosystems.
We're expanding rapidly across the Prairies and beyond, building a national connective tissue for tech communities. To power this next stage of growth, we're hiring an Operations and Marketing Coordinator to help scale our events, deepen our sponsor partnerships, and build the media engine that's turning Tech Thursday into the most trusted platform in Canadian tech.
Why This Role Matters
This role sits at the center of how Tech Thursday shows up, at our events and everywhere we reach our community.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll own real pieces of both. On the ground, that means events that run seamlessly and partnerships that add real value for our sponsors. Beyond the room, it means content and campaigns that grow our audience, fill our events, and keep our community with us year-round, built by someone who gets what our audience actually wants to see and how to connect with them.
You won't just execute a checklist. We want you proposing better ways to do things and running with them.
This role includes some evening availability for events. We're looking for someone organized, detail-oriented, and energized by fast-paced, high-ownership work who sees what needs to happen and makes it happen.
What we promise in return: this role won't stay static. You'll grow as we grow, taking on more ownership and getting front-row exposure to some of the most influential people and organizations in Canadian tech.
What You'll Do
Content, Marketing & Brand
- Help produce our newsletters across every city, growing the subscribers, opens, and engagement that drive turnout and sponsor reach across every city we're in.
- Run point on our social presence, from organic content that keeps our community engaged year-round to paid campaigns that grow our channels.
- Coordinate our podcast and video content with our videographer, making sure every piece lands on-brand and performs across our channels.
- Shape our voice and brand everywhere Tech Thursday shows up.
Events & Operations
- Support planning and on-the-ground execution of weekly events across all cities.
- Improve the playbooks, processes and systems that keep events and content running smoothly, and sharpen them as we grow.
- Help deliver sponsor and partner value at events, and turn that work into pre- and post-event content that extends their reach.
What You Bring
- 1-3 years of experience in marketing, content, copywriting, or communications, ideally in a fast-paced or startup environment.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
- A creative eye for what makes people stop scrolling, open an email, or share a post.
- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
- A bias toward action. You don't wait to be told exactly what to do, you spot what's needed and propose a way forward.
- Bonus: Experience in tech is a plus. Consuming tech content on X, LinkedIn, and podcasts is also a plus.
What Success Looks Like (12 Months In)
- Our newsletters and social channels are growing in reach and engagement, and driving real turnout at events.
- Our community stays engaged with us between events, not just around them.
- Events run smoothly and consistently across our cities, with strong attendee and sponsor satisfaction.
- Sponsors renew because they get real value and clear ROI from what we produce around their events.
